Serious Business

Does anyone know where I might aquire some information concerning tenant rights and apartment management code of conduct regulations? I'm have some pretty serious problems with the old man my landlords deemed "manager". Apparently he believes I (and all the tenants) are his subordinants and must follow his will. I know for a fact he has violated a number of rules, I just am having a hard time finding them in official writing to present as a defense when he trys to fuck with me again. I pissed him off pretty good this last time by making it very clear I am in no way "beneath him" and he took it as an extreme personal insult that I "went over his head" and dealt with the landlords directly instead of invoving him. He basically made some (non-comittal) threats and tried to tell me I was "violating the rules" by bypassing his "authority". I could really use some help here if anyone knows anything...

The only thing that I can think of is to have you contact the H.A.A. ( Houston Apt. Assoc.) The y were nice enough and If my renters history was better would "probably" have been more helpful getting me out of a pinch or two... Its worth a shot anyway...

thats a pretty good place to start.  i'll call around tomorrow and see if there are any other resources.  rules and regulations for apartments are pretty spread out through commerce codes, city ordinances, etc etc etc.
