I've been studying what it would take to move to the Netherlands for a long time. That's why I 'liberated' my self a copy of the Rosetta Stone program, to learn Dutch. It's a fantastic program, by the way.

The idea of making little copies of my self has started to appeal more to me lately than it ever has. But I've decided that I will not be raising a child in this country. maybe for the first couple years, if I can't help it. But I want better for my child than this nation can currently give. That, or home school for my kid. But I don't want my kid to be home schooled unless the one teaching him had a doctorate in something.
I don't think any teacher should have less than a masters, even pre k. Educating our children is so important. The economy, the government, even the sovereignty of our nation depends on an aware and educated citizenry.
Sure, you can let our educational standards stagnate and even slip for a hundred years or so...but eventually ignorance reaches critical mass and then you have a dramatic upheaval. I think many people are starting to notice how close we are to that now.

What it comes down to is there has been a near total lack of innovation when it comes to how we educate our selves. With the education system being largely publicly funded, there has been no motivation to improve upon it. There hasn't been much advancement in how we teach or our understanding of how we learn. The progression of our knowledge in this area has been left to lonely psychologists and the like...and not many put much stock into what they say.
I think privatizing education to some degree would solve this problem. Money is one of the strongest motivators here. But it may also raise some new problems.

Went on a bit of a rant there...lets see...how can I bring it back on topic... What is Obama's policies on education?

(though I'm pretty sure saints would get stoned for getting blow jobs too)

you certainly got me thinking.  i went and looked it up.  no rules against blowjobs specifically.  plenty about jacking off, guy/guy action, and hookers.  the closest is some holiness codes about having kids.

Ever heard of John Taylor Gatto? Sounds vaguely like the name of a serial killer....  He's a retired school teacher whose written a couple books critical of America's compulsory education system.

The link below leads you to a short essay by him. I highly suggest reading it, especially for anyone who had a different than average public school experience.

the thing is dev, if my company makes that kind of money, over 250k, if i do that well or better, then my company shouldnt be hit with more taxes for it. And yes, people will help me get there, and thats what a pay check is for. I pay them to help me make money. They dont SUDDENLY deserve a larger cut because the company makes more money. People used to be happy to earn a living, now everyone seems to think for some reason that they deserve a larger chunk of my pie. If some PhD at a school doesnt earn as much as me, maybe he should have gone into business instead. My point is not that people who dont earn that much are some how degenerates, my point is that i shouldnt have to pay more money to the government to help people who were in no way involved in my business. I should pay fair wages and provide all the services that are expected of my company. I shouldnt be required to do more for being good at what i do. And yes, the government will bail out a major company, ones that were pulling down billions of dollars, but i am hard pressed to find many companies that pull down under 20 million that the government is even going to notice went under, better yet give them money to stay afloat. You named companies like Fannie Mae, well unless i am VERY lucky, i doubt my company will ever put up the numbers that they did. Or have the number of employees that the air lines have. There is a reason for those bail outs, and i doubt i would qualify for that help. But sure as the sun will rise, i will be required to pay a shit load of extra taxes. Thats my issue, thats where i see the problem. And when i was talking about people that did shitty in school and did crap with their lives, im talking about the people that live off the back of the government checks. Checks paid for by taxes. And those taxes are harder on mid level business ( 300k-10milion) which are the companies that have the hardest time finding the loop holes that the big boys use to keep their money. So its the backs of the middle class and the middle business that have to make sure that someone gets their welfare check and their medicade. Thats why i have an issue with it, those are the people i was talking about. Some how it becomes my job to take care of them, why, because i managed to build a sucessful business that pulls in profits. And the extra taxes i am required to pay, i could have invested in a better healthcare plan for my employees so they could afford to take their kids to the doctor.

The government creates more problems then they fix. You want universal healthcare for people, make it the job of the government to sell a nice coverage plan, and allow companies to opt into buying it at a discounted rate for their employees and families. Either then HMO's catch up, or get washed away. Then pass a law that requires all health care plans be at some basic standard ( scripts and visits, that kinda stuff) and give a tax break to the companies that buy this kind of healthcare for their employees WITHOUT taking that healthcare out of their checks. Then the companies might save some money, and anyone with a job or spouse with a job would have some kind of basic coverage. That would require people to actually have a job, and still give healthcare for people. That seems a lot better then just raising fucking taxes so that the government can implement some kind of broken ass system that will cost americans more money then it will save them. Obviously there will be some flaws in my plan, as i am not writting a 20k page bill to send to congress. lol

I just think there are better answers then raise taxes. Hell, you could cut more government if instead of a government healthcare plan, they just pass a law that says the base standard of what healthcare should be, and allow any company that covers their employees to get breaks on their taxes. Now you create a standard and as long as the breaks on the taxes are less then the cost of covering people, everyone would have healthcare, with no new tax.

As far as dealing with other countries, i think we need the Rossevelt approach, speak softly and carry a big stick. We need more diplomicay, but with the understanding that some people cant be negotiated with. I have a hard time believe that Bin Ladin is going to give a flying fuck about what we can offer him. Some people, not as many as we are lead to believe, just hate us for no real reason. Obviously some have great reasons. Diplomicy is great, but it only works when there is a punishment to go with the reward. Our problem is the idea that millitary force is the only answer. You want to hurt our enemies in the middle east, drill where ever we can drill, open up the reserves and invest large amounts of money in tax rebates for those that buy cars that get 30 miles or better. Bigger breaks for those that get gas/electric. Start getting people behind the movement the only way you can, $$$$. You created a contest amoungst care companies, the first to produce a water/electric car thats under 30k gets X amount of money, or tax breaks, whatever. We would cripple our enemies pocket books with the selling of oil at home, make shit loads of money selling it abroad, and help Americans become oil free. The problem is people in government are looking at "what can i get out of it" and thats all they really care about. No one is going to really deal with these issues because they dont get much from it. The government has become all about "what do i get" and not "what can i do to help them?" thats the root of the issue. And the two men running for office are no diffrent. McCain doesnt want much change, he just wants to stablize and get another 4 years of the same old thing. ( not saying he is like bush, saying he is like ALL of them.) Obama just wants to get more people hooked on the government money. Creating more government plans that make more people dependent on the governments hand out. We need to get away from foreign money and oil, get Americans off the government checks and get people to stop looking to Big Brother with a hand out and ass checks spread.

But wtf do i know. Just a white boy from houston yo.
